The mother of Jay Slater released a heartwrenching statement after the search for her 19-year-old son was called off. Jay was last seen leaving a property in Tenerife, known as Casa Abuela Tina, at approximately 8am on June 17. He had been at the Papagayo nightclub in Playa de las Americas, before leaving the venue with two British men to return to the rented accommodation.
The AirBnB where Jay Slater spent his last known night is over 20 miles and an 11-hour walk away from the Los Cristianos flat where he had been staying with his friends Lucy Law, 18, and Brad Hargreaves, 19. As reported by the Manchester Evening News , Jay uploaded a picture of himself holding a cigarette outside the main door of the holiday rental early on Monday morning. The Airbnb host later reported seeing him on Monday walking uphill into the mountains alone.
