A former UK detective helping the family of missing teenager Jay Slater in Tenerife suggested that the 19-year-old was 'frightened' when he left an Airbnb property after allegedly 'taking a £12,000 Rolex' before his disappearance. Jay, from Oswaltwistle, Lancashire, vanished on the morning of June 17 after departing from the Airbnb located in the northern part of the island, near the village of Masca in the Rural de Teno Park. Accompanied by two British men, Jay had travelled there after spending a night at a Playa de las Americas nightclub.

Mark Williams-Thomas, known for investigating numerous high-profile cases of missing people, now has claimed that Jay must have been 'feeling scared' when he left the accommodation on that Monday morning. In a video on X on July 3, the ex-detective said: "We've received information that would suggest that Jay left the rental property feeling scared and he would not return to the rental, even though that would have been the most sensible course of action." No one has heard from him since that conversation, reports the Manchester Evening News . Williams-Thomas added that Jay could have gone back to the Airbnb.
