Birth: 1934 Death: 2024 James Allen Moyer, born March 31, 1934 in Alhambra, CA, passed away surrounded by family on April 20, 2024. Jim had a life well lived. He and his loving wife, Joyce, celebrated 55 years of marriage, raised three children, and was a beloved grandfather of three.

Throughout his life, Jim embraced family and friends with love, support and good humor. Jim was a native Southern Californian and proud of it. He loved to share stories about growing up in Alhambra, playing along the local beaches, and his adventures with his younger sister, Linda.



His sense of humor could always be counted on to bring a smile to everyone’s faces. Losing their mother when Jim was 13, their bond was truly special. Thankfully, the United Methodist Church was there to provide a loving and supportive community, plus, it helped keep him out of mischief! This connection and community continued to be strong throughout his life, whether it was raising his children at the Temple City United Methodist Church, going to family camp in Arroyo Grande, or when he and Joyce started the coffee hour for the nursery school at UUMC, Irvine.

Jim graduated from Cal State Los Angeles in 1956. Jim had a strong work ethic and had several careers over his life; he was most passionate about his role as an educator. He loved people, was open and supportive of different backgrounds, and had a special talent for sharing his messages, lessons and inspiration with humor.
