The Kiffness has spoken out on criticism of South African expats living abroad who have chosen to vote ahead of the upcoming elections. Last weekend, citizens living around the world were given the opportunity to have an early special vote via stations set up by their local embassies and the Independent Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC). Their ballots will now be secured and returned to SA, where they will be counted after the elections on Wednesday, 29 May.

THE KIFFNESS REACTS TO CRITICISM OF OVERSEAS VOTES On social media, South Africans living abroad shared pictures of them exercising their right to vote over the weekend. In the pics, Saffas of all ages and races were seen waving their flags and even wearing them on their underwear, socks, and T-shirts as they sang local songs and ate boerewors rolls, likely reminiscing about their country of birth. Some voters also wore T-shirts of their favourite political parties, including the ANC, DA, PA, and EFF.

Others donned their favourite Springbok shirt in green and gold. Responding to one clip, X user @Biglittlehulk questioned why South Africans who had left the country were permitted to have a say in the elections. They tweeted, “I don’t get it.

Why are people who have chickened out on this country able to vote? You left us and shouldn’t have a say in what happens in SA. Shouldn’t this privilege remain only for those who are still here fighting for a better future in SA?” Outspoken muso The Kiffness responde.
