Tori Towey, the Irish woman stranded in Dubai after being charged with attempted suicide, is currently “very nervous” and can’t wait to come home, her aunt has said. The 28-year-old Roscommon native, who works for an airline, is not being permitted to travel after she was attacked in her home and subsequently charged with alcohol consumption and attempting suicide. Taoiseach Simon Harris promised to intervene in the case after Ms Towey’s situation was raised in the Dáil yesterday.

Today, he reiterated this commitment and said her safe return was an “absolute priority”. “They’re very nervous and just can’t wait to get home, you know, being in a strange country on their own, it’s very hard. We’re all just very, very anxious. “It’s hard to believe that this young woman has been charged with trying to commit suicide.

” Ms Flynn said the whole family is hoping that the phone will ring and they will be.
