Alan Hughes fell back in love with the city of Dublin during the pandemic. He and his husband Karl Broderick enjoyed a wonderful staycation there, with the Ireland AM host admitting that as a native to the county, he had missed out on all the city had to offer. He told RSVP Magazine about the hotel he stays at, the restaurants and cafes he always drops by and all the sights that people can’t miss.

During Covid, my husband Karl and I started going to hotels when you were allowed. We would go for a night or two. It was amazing how much of Dublin that you don’t know as a person who lives there.
We only live 20 minutes outside of Dublin and you would come in for some shopping or for a meeting and go home. We always stay at the Radisson Blu Royal Hotel at Golden Lane and it’s a lovely little spot and really central. They also have a new spa.
You spend two nights there and you feel like you’ve been away for a week. Stephen’s Green is right outside and we walk through the market at George’s Street Arcade. I would never normally go in there, but we went inside when we were wandering.
It’s Irish people selling their own wares there and it’s brilliant to browse around. I went into Powerscourt Townhouse Centre. I hadn.
