The Italian Airforce Aerobatic Team, Frecce Tricolori, flew over the nation’s capital with the Royal Canadian Air Force’s Snowbirds. The event was part of a North American tour for the Italian jets honouring the first time in more than 30 years since the Frecce Tricolori flew across Canada and the United States during its last mission. The tour is meant to represent “Italian excellence”, a press release reads.
Around noon on June 25, Frecce Tricolori was joined by the Snowbirds to conduct a joint show over Ottawa before heading to Montreal in the afternoon celebrating the Royal Canadian Air Force’s 100th anniversary. Related: People in Ottawa did not hesitate to snap photos and videos of the event, which saw the jets zip across the sky leaving trails of green, white and red — Italy’s flag colours — behind them. The Italian Embassy took a moment to post on social media thanking all those who joined in the celebration.
