Social media often lies to us, and one woman is on a mission to prove it. When it comes to body image , wer'e often taught a lot of things that aren't true, especially online, and it's left her reeling. Danae Mercer Ricci, a 36-year-old American, has been dishing out self-love advice on Instagram for years.

With her genuine and unfiltered posts, she's gained a whopping 2.3million followers, and now she has a big message for teenage girls. She wants them to stop worrying about what their bodies look like, and embrace being young and alive.



In a defiant post, she told them that social media is "lying" to them. This is because skin rolls and folds are "normal", so you shouldn't hide them when you hit the beach. When they're relaxed, people can look totally different to what we see. Danae encourgaed young women to know their bodies aren't "flawed", as it's society's beauty standards that are the problem. She also noted that social media is just a "highlight reel" of a person's life, so we shouldn't focus too much attention on it.
