Residents of a once-quiet, picturesque village claim it is being “turned into Blackpool ” after becoming the preferred destination for rowdy revellers. Locals living in Whalley, in Lancashire's Ribble Valley, claim their home - which dates by to the Bronze Age - is being ruined by partygoers bringing chaos to the streets. The have reported damage to property, streets littered with vomit, public urination and sex acts, as young people come from as far as Preston, Blackpool and Manchester .

While residents of the historic village complain of loud music keeping them awake into the early hours, one local man alleged he was assaulted by a group of women carrying inflatable penises while out on a hen do . One resident, who didn’t want to be named, said the village, known for its 14th-century Whalley Abbey, is being “irreparably spoiled. What we're upset about is this 'Blackpool-isation' of Whalley.

There's nothing wrong with Blackpool , but not when you're in Whalley and not when you've got the Cistercian Abbey.” She claimed said she had witnessed drug use on bin lids, women urinating in alleys, and trespassers using her garden as a toilet. Locals say emergency services regularly have to be called out to deal with drunks fighting in the street, complaining that anti-social behaviour has increased since the arrival of ‘bottomless drink events’ targetted at women, often with topless male performances.

Others say they have reverted to using ear plugs or even taking sleep.
