I Tried Hailey Bieber's Pink Jelly Glaze Nails With Tips From Her Manicurist

Social media is in a tizzy over Hailey Bieber's latest manicure, and I can totally see why. The look, which was created by celebrity manicurist Zola Ganzorigt, is being dubbed "pink jelly glaze," and it's honestly got to be one of my favorite manicures - ever. I like to get my nails done like clockwork every month, but I usually stick to the most neutral shades possible. Because I wait a full four weeks in between appointments, I don't like the grow out to be too obvious, which is best achieved with colors that are most similar to my natural nails - think nudes and milky whites. However, when I saw Bieber's latest manicure - a mix between pink chrome and jelly nails - I knew I wanted to try it, even though it was a little out of the box for me. I did have a couple of concerns, though. Keep reading to find out how the trending shade worked for me. As mentioned, the shade is a mix between a jelly pink and a pink chrome, but it's still very sheer. Since I use builder gel, I was a little worried I wouldn't be able to get the exact same look, but Ganzorigt told me it'd be no problem. "As long as your base is clear, the steps will be the same as a regular gel manicure." At the time, I was considering cutting my ultra long nails short, but luckily, Ganzorigt also said that the shade would work on any nail shape and length since it's essentially a neutral color. Once it was decided, I was lucky enough to snag an appointment at the OPI offices in Calabasas, California, and meet with manicurist Galdina Jimenez. Jimenez knew I was there to recreate Bieber's look, and we got started as soon as I sat down in her chair. As previously mentioned, I have builder gel on my nails, so after the usual prep, Jimenez and I got down to business. She put on two layers of clear builder gel and cured each layer. One of the great things about the OPI professional lamps is that they cure in 30 seconds flat, which made the process go by so much faster. Unfortunately, the exact pink shade that Ganzorigt used to create Bieber's jelly pink shade, Hotter Than You, is discontinued, but luckily, I had every OPI color at my fingertips (pun intended) at the brand's office, so we were able to come up with a shade that was a perfect match. (Which you can also use to recreate at home.) We started with the Hello Kitty x OPI in shade Follow Your Heart and mixed it with the OPI Intelli-gel Clear Gel (these are both new products that will be available July 1). The color was a really fun jelly pink, but to get it a little more like the shade Bieber used, we ended up adding in a tiny bit of the OPI Funny Bunny Gel ($20). (Ganzorigt actually uses the shade Alpine Snow, which is a brighter white.) From there, Jimenez painted two coats onto my nails and let each one cure for 30 seconds. Then, it was time to add the chrome. Ganzorigt says she used the OPI Chrome Powder in the shade Tin Man Can, so Jimenez followed suit on my nails, using the smallest amount and then curing it under the UV lamp. My nails were still sheer enough that I could see the slightest bit of the whites underneath, but they looked uniform and shiny under the thin layer of chrome.
