Ever since I created a TikTok account, I've spent countless hours scrolling the app, and I've come to rely on it to find the best hair and makeup hacks. Because of TikTok, I learned how to and how to , which are tricks I use all the time. One person I always see popping up on my For You Page with great hair tips is Jennifer Lopez's hairstylist, .

More than half of my Favorites folder is actually filled with videos of Appleton turning a plain, boring hairstyle into something that looks like it's on the head of an off-duty supermodel. I've tested out tons of his tips, but there are four hacks that I use over and over again, and they always get me compliments. I'll walk you through each one so you can see the magic for yourself.



This is probably one of the simplest hacks, but it yields great results. Whenever I find that my hair doesn't have a lot of volume at the roots — whether it's freshly washed or three days old, I always utilize this trick. I start out with my hair parted down the middle, and then I take the left front section and flip it over to the right side.

I then spritz it with hairspray. Appleton likes to use the ($28), but I find that any hair spray works just as well. From there, Appleton suggests using the ($280) frizz fighter attachment to blast that section of hair with hot air.

(Personally, I find any blow dryer with a concentrated nozzle attachment works just as well.) The trick is to blow dry the hair in the opposite direction. Once I've hit it with hot ai.
