A THRIFT store shopper has shared his success after scoring a $250 watch hidden among junk jewelry A special feature of the 1980s timepiece has made it valuable to collectors Matt Bettencourt, better known as Retro Toy Envy online, is a thrift-store reseller. He scours the local Goodwill stores and estate sales looking for bargains he can flip for a profit. In a recent YouTube video , Matt revealed what happened after spotting a rare watch at the thrift store.

The watch was not in plain sight but rather buried among junk in a mystery jewelry jar. However, Matt spotted the retro-looking Seiko through the glass and decided to take a punt on the $200 jar. Emptying the jar at home, the reseller found that the watch was the Seiko Pulse Meter from the 1980s.

"What makes this so special is that it takes your pulse," he explained. What's more, this thrift store bargain was in excellent condition. "It's in beautiful shape and I actually don't think it's ever been used," he said.

Matt did some research and saw he could sell it on eBay for $250. That meant would make a profit on the entire $200 jar with just the single item. "Vintage watches are in high demand," said Matt.

He previously came across a different sought-after Seiko with an orange dial at Goodwill. Buying it for $130, he sold it to another shopper in the parking lot immediately after for $500. Thrift stores and garage sales are full of valuable items just waiting to be discovered by shoppers.
