Social media is notorious for peddling falsehoods – and there's one woman who's out to expose it for what it truly is. The world of body image conveys a host of lies, most notably online, leaving people twisted in its misleading spell. At 36, American Danae Mercer Ricci has spent years disseminating messages of self-love on , with evident success.

Her refreshingly authentic and uncensored posts have led her to gain an astonishing 2.3 million followers. Now she has an important message for girls - stop fussing over your physical appearance and savour your youthfulness instead.

In a power-packed post, she announced that social media has been "lying" to them, highlighting that skin rolls and creases are very much "normal", advising them against feeling the need to hide these natural aspects while hitting the beach. She also pointed out that bodies don't always look like they do on Instagram, because people strike poses and slap on the filters. When they're chilling out, they can look a whole lot different to the snaps we scroll through.

Danae urged young women to realise their bodies aren't "flawed", blaming society's unrealistic beauty standards instead. She reminded them that social media is just a "highlight reel" of someone's life, so it's not worth getting hung up on. In an honest video, she showed off how her own bod looks from various angles and positions.

The mum even gave a shout-out to her wobbly bits and cellulite - telling everyone it's totally normal to have them..
