HE boldly declared ‘Shady’s back, tell a friend’ in his 2002 mega-hit Without Me. And over a decade on, the words could not be truer for rapper Eminem after he stormed the UK charts once more. The Mockingbird hit-maker currently sits proudly at the No1 spot with his comeback single Houdini.

He ended Sabrina Carpenter’s five week run at the top with Espresso. The feat now means that Eminem is tied with Scottish DJ Calvin Harris in fifth place for the most UK No1 singles by a solo artist of all time. Both stars now have 11 chart-toppers under their belt.

Houdini is also Eminem’s first solo No1 since his 2005 hit Like Toy Soldiers. Eminem, who made his debut back in 1998 with Just Don’t Give a F***, has also leapfrogged his mentor Sir Elton John . Rocketman formed an unlikely friendship with the rapper after they performed Eminem’s megahit Stan at the 2001 Grammy Awards.

He also helped him get sober after witnessing his very public battle with drink and drugs . Elton previously gushed: “We became friends. We’ve been amazing friends ever since.

He’s an amazing guy. I just adore him.” Now only Madonna , who has 13, and Cliff Richard, Ed Sheeran , who both have 14, stand ahead of him.

Current king of the charts is the late Elvis Presley who has bagged 21 UK chart-toppers. Despite Eminem being one of the biggest stars on the planet, BBC Radio 1 opted to give the track a lukewarm response. They have barely playlisted Houdini - added it to their C list.
