STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – The South Shore Kiwanis Club on Staten Island recently organized its 15th annual pasta dinner, Mangia Madness, with the help of local restaurants and student volunteers in Key Club to raise money for Kids Against Cancer and the Alex Inserra Scholarship Fund.

Many people gathered at Monsignor Farrell High School, Oakwood, to support the event, which took place in April. “It was fun seeing people from the community come together to raise funds for organizations like Kids for Cancer. I’m happy to have been a part of it,” said Camila Figueroa, a Key Club member at Curtis High School who volunteered at the pasta dinner.

Many tables were set up covered in trays of pasta, salad and appetizers. On the other side of the gym, there were additional tables filled with beautiful gift baskets to be raffled. The students involved in Key Club supported the event through volunteering by serving food, selling raffle tickets and giving away raffle baskets to the winners.

“The specific cause is that we’re raising money that we donate back to the community for children in need or for people in need. This particular event is for the Alex Inserra Scholarship Fund. To date, we’ve given out over $100,000 to kids going.
