Here's a sampling of things we love this week: Father's Day fun Dad might tell you he "just wants to be left alone with his recliner and TV" for Father's Day, but ignore that and drag dear old dad to the Petrifying Springs Biergarten, which is hosting a Father's Day Celebration on Sunday. Dad-approved activities include: A Dad Shoes Pageant (with prizes!) and a Push-Mower Race, along with live music by The Roundabouts. Did we mention there's also beer and food? The Biergarten is open noon to 8 p.
m. on Sunday. For more about Father's Day events, including a car show, see our story on Pages 7-9.
Here comes summer break! Can't wait until the weekend to party? Head to the Petrifying Springs Biergarten, which celebrates Teacher Appreciation Day today. Teachers with a valid school ID get $1 off all drinks on Thursday, June 13. Plus, the Biergarten is opening early, at 1 p.
m., and hosting food trucks, starting at 4 p.m.
, to celebrate the end of the school year. We'll drink to that! Polka, polka, polka Milwaukee's season of ethnic festivals starts with a big one: Polish Fest is June 14-16 at the Summerfest Grounds in downtown Milwaukee at the lakefront. Billed as America's largest Polish festival, the three-day festival includes traditional food and music, as well as vodka tastings.
Just point us in the direction of the Non-Stop Polka Stage. For more details, see our Road Trips roundup on Page 10. Celebrating Old Glory Friday is Flag Day, marking the adoption of the flag of the Unite.
