Following remarks from keynote speaker Missy Krempa Mariano, the 2000 recipient of the Female Fulton County Athlete of the Year award, Master of Ceremonies and NYSPHSAA Director of Sports Information and Digital Content Lexi Swatt-Sheerin announced Gloversville’s Zoie Tesi and Broadalbin-Perth’s Colin Cotter and Johnstown’s Ryan Hoyt as the co-Male and Female 2024 Fulton County Athletes of the Year. The three honorees also shared another special bond. “We all went to the same elementary school in Johnstown,” Cotter said.
“We have known each other forever.” Tesi moved to Gloversville at the start of her freshman year, while Cotter transferred to Broadalbin-Perth also as a freshman and Hoyt continued his education and athletic career in Johnstown. “I was a freshman on a volleyball team that was all seniors,” Tesi said of her first experience at Gloversville.
“I actually had a great experience with them. They were all super nice and were like big sisters to me, especially since I just moved here and really did not have many friends. They created a family for me, and that is how I started my career at Gloversville.
” A five-sport athlete participating in volleyball, cross-country, basketball, track and field and indoor track, Tesi will graduate as valedictorian of her class before continuing her athletic career as a member of the track and field team at the U.S. Naval Academy.
