(ANN/THE CHINA DAILY) – Lyu Yating, born in 1993, stands at the forefront of preserving the exquisite art of Linglong porcelain, a unique and highly revered traditional porcelain from Jingdezhen in East China’s Jiangxi province, often hailed as the “city of porcelain.” Linglong porcelain is renowned for its distinctive design, characterized by tiny, translucent “windows” that set it apart from ordinary ceramics. This intricate art form begins with the meticulous carving of tiny holes into the porcelain body.

These holes are then filled with a special glaze and, after undergoing high-temperature firing, the result is a stunning piece that appears to be covered with small “holes” yet retains the remarkable ability to hold water without leaking. This intricate process has earned it the nickname “porcelain inlaid with glass.” The production of Linglong porcelain is incredibly complex, and over time, only a limited number of these delicate pieces have survived.



Today, Lyu Yating’s dedication to mastering and continuing this elaborate glazing technique ensures that the beauty and tradition of Linglong porcelain live on. Lyu comes from a family in Jingdezhen deeply rooted in the porcelain industry, a heritage dating back to her great-grandfather. In 1993, her father established the Linglong porcelain brand, Fuyu Porcelain.
