THERE were heartbreaking scenes in Co Limerick today as tragic Nicole Morey was laid to rest after her life was "cut short in the most brutal fashion". Nicole was attacked by her dogs when she returned to a home she was renting in Fedamore, Co Limerick at around 11.30pm last Tuesday night after celebrating her 23rd birthday .

An XL Bully was shot dead during the incident by the Regional Armed Support Unit as it continued to pose a threat to emergency workers. Three other dogs seized from the home where tragic Nicole was killed have since been destroyed. The four mutts, all restricted breeds — understood to be two XL Bullies and two ­Staffordshire Bull Terriers — were “extremely aggressive” at the ­property when first responders arrived .



Her family said she died “unexpectedly” on her 23rd birthday and is survived by her parents Lisa and Patrick, step parents, as well as brothers, sisters and extended family and friends. The 23-year-old's heartbroken family and friends were joined by hundreds of other mourners as they said their final goodbyes to beloved Nicole at her funeral service today. Members of Nicole's family wept and comforted one another as the cortège carrying her remains arrived at the Holy Family Church in Southill shortly before 11am for mass.

Devastated mum Lisa reached out to the casket and touched it as she prepared to say her last goodbyes to her beloved girl. Inside the church, some wore t-shirts with Nicole's face printed on them in memory o.
