Harbourtown Trading Company in Vermilion is moving about two miles from its current location. The store announced the plans June 20 on Facebook to relocate to 657 Main St. from 5645 Liberty Ave.
Fran Korhel, owner of Harbourtown Trading Company , is remodeling the new space to host a soft opening for the July 4 holiday weekend. The boutique will have the same look and feel as the space on Liberty Avenue, but it will have additional space for items and easy access for customers as well as more foot traffic year-round, Korhel said. “It’s going to have the same vibe,” she said.
“My take on thrift was, I wanted to provide an experience.” Harbourtown Trading Company will operate the same as always — as a vintage and current thrift boutique and exchange for patrons to browse quality clothing options from past and present at affordable prices, Korhel said. The boutique also has a line of vintage and new shoes, purses and other accessories, she said.
“it’s just an opportunity for people to buy name brand items, vintage items, at a good price,” Korhel said. “I really believe in the whole recycle, upcycle, reuse. The sustainability aspect of it is super important to me.
” Korhel said everything is hand-selected specifically for the store whether, it’s new or used. Oftentimes, many of the thrifted items are vintage from 20 or 30 years ago, she said. The drive for Harbourtown Trading Company to be sustainable comes from the quality of the vintage items it receives.
