THREE avoidable changes to locks can age your appearance, according to an expert hair surgeon. He shared his must-try tips for keeping tresses youthfully voluminous and healthy. Dr.

Roshan Vara is an expert hair surgeon and co-founder of The Treatment Rooms London . Speaking to The U.S.

Sun, he shared haircare advice that helps to defy the signs of aging. Dr. Vara said the “most common” signs of aging hair are changes in “color, quantity, and quality.

” “It is often the graying of hair and how much of it is left that is talked about and the most common solution for many is dyeing gray hair,” he said. “However, it's important to keep in mind that it involves using harsh chemicals such as bleaching agents and peroxides. “To avoid damaging your hair, it is recommended to explore organic and peroxide-free hair dyes and to reduce the frequency with which you dye your hair.

” Dr. Vara said looking after the overall health of tresses is just as important as having a dyeing routine that minimizes damage. “As your hair ages and becomes gray, you will also find it naturally becomes drier in texture,” he said.

“Avoid using hair straighteners that dry gray hair even more and result in more split ends and split hair shafts.” Dr. Vara said that the structure of gray hair is more susceptible to damage, such as from UV rays.

“Prolonged exposure to the sun without proper protection, such as wearing a hat, can result in increased dryness and brittleness,” he said. D.
