FAIRMONT — Coarse gray hair, like the type Kim Posey has, is among the hardest to deal with for professional stylists. “It’s a lot harder to get the color to adhere to it,” Posey said. “So as I’ve aged and gotten older, the gray’s just kind of taken a hold of its own.
” However, viewing Posey’s vibrant blonde hair for the first time, it’s hard to imagine her with any other color. For technically challenging work it takes to style her hair correctly, Posey only trusts the expertise provided by Zoanna Senderak at Studio Z Beauty Salon on Merchant Street. “She’s just wonderful,” Posey said.
“I went from dark color to lighter, I went to her for help. She’s very innovative, very knowledgeable in trying to help you with that. Gave me a totally different new hairstyle.
I just love her.” The Marion County Chamber of Commerce welcomed Senderak and Studio Z to the business community with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, June 7. Sendarak is no stranger to the building on 112 Merchant St.
She became a hairdresser 10 years ago, and launched her own business called Hair by Zoe after the birth of her son eight years ago. At the time, Les Cheveux occupied the building, which was then owned by Deb Tropea. Sendarak worked out of Les Cheveux, with her son nearby.
“My son was raised here,” Sendarak said. “It’s very sentimental to me. This building means a lot to me.
” Tropea maintained the location as a hair salon for roughly 40 years that previously h.
