GRAND BLANC, MI -- Nabil Nannoshi said it didn’t take long at all for he and his family to decide what to do with the $50,000 commission check he earned after his store -- The Food Castle of Grand Blanc -- sold a winning Powerball ticket worth $842.4 million. Give it right back to his employees and the community.

It’s going to help a lot of people, Nannoshi said. “We talked about it, me and my family and we decided that’s what we were going to do.” Nannoshi said he and his family waited for several months for the winner of the jackpot to come forward and claim the prize before he would receive the commission.

But once it was clear they were going to receive the money, the family didn’t hesitate on what to do. Michigan Lottery Commissioner, Suzanna Shkreli commended Nannoshi for giving the money back to the community, adding that retailers like him are what drive the Michigan Lottery. “The Food Castle has been a Michigan Lottery retailer for over 20 years and like most of our retailers, is a small, family-owned business,” Shkreli said.

“It’s a testament to who our retailers are. These are family people that care about their employees, they care about their community. “It’s really a beautiful thing.
