Former military president, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, has thrown his weight behind the IBB International Golf and Country Club of Abuja for it’s decision to start an annual International Golf Classic, tagged ‘IBB Classic’ billed to be holding annually. General Babangida announced his support for the event when he received the executive committee members of the club led by the captain, Ibrahim Babayo, at his hilltop residence in Minna, the Niger State Capital, over the weekend. The Nigerian former leader commended the club for adding value to the country, saying such International meet will further put the country in the world map positively.

The club captain, Ibrahim Babayo, earlier briefed General IBB on the efforts of his executive to add the new programme, ‘IBB International Golf Classic competition’ to the Club’s calendar. “We have to come to our father, the father of the club, the life patron of IBB International Golf and Country Club to inform him of the annual IBB classic that will be doing every August which will be a Pro-Am and of International status. “The reason for this is to showcase the beauty of our course and bringing more professional golfers around the world to Nigeria.



“Golf has become a big earners while some countries are also using it as part of their foreign policy,” Babayo said. The highlight of the visit was the presentation of the club souvenirs to the former military leader as mark of honour to the life Patron of the Clu.
