Gary Goodman, age 74, of Longmont, Colorado, passed away In Longmont, May 16, 2024. He passed peacefully and was surrounded by love and light from his family, Sharon, Seann, and Graham. Gary was born in the Bronx, New York, on August 19, 1949, to Harold and Sylvia Goodman.
He grew up in the village of Ardsley, NY where he was raised in the traditions of Judaism. He attended and graduated from Ardsley High School in 1967. Gary went on to attend Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX and then transferred to the University of CO, Boulder where he graduated with a BA in Sociology and a minor in Business in 1972.
Gary married Sharon Bilyeu of Chula Vista, CA in 1976 on Flagstaff Mountain in Boulder, CO where they lived for the next 10 years. They started their family during this time with the birth of their first son, Seann, in 1979. Gary’s work took the family to WA state where they welcomed the birth of their second son, Graham, in 1988.
They lived in Gig Harbor, WA during these 28 years and raised their family on nearby Raft Island. The couple returned to CO to retire in 2014. Gary’s first love was always his family as a devoted husband, father, and “Gramps” to Bodhi.
Gary was a lumberman through and through, having started that work in a lumberyard in Aspen, CO as a young man and later became a professional lumber sales representative for Georgia Pacific in Denver, Champion, Pacific Western, and Pacific Alaska Lumber of WA state. Gary was a passionate advocate for.
