Family members on Wednesday gathered to celebrate the life of Tyemeshia Miller , 19, who was shot and killed two weeks ago by a bullet intended for someone else in Harrisburg. She was six months pregnant, and her unborn son also died after the May 13 shooting in the 2100 Block of North Fourth Street. Family members said Miller, known affectionately as “Dooda,” was hit in the back while shielding a child from a bullet on a crowded front porch.

“She was a hero in my eyes,” said her cousin Candance Patterson, who was among hundreds of mourners at Miller’s funeral Wednesday at the Living Water Community Church. Family and friends lined up, their faces heavy with emotion, while entering the nave of the church to view Miller inside a white casket decorated with numerous flowers before the funeral service began. Her stepfather, Jermaine Taylor, was seated in the front row during the funeral.

As Miller’s killing remains unsolved, he’s hoping to receive new updates from Harrisburg police, as they continue to try to identify the person or people who were believed to have fired at the porch. “I would like to have justice for my daughter so she can rest in peace,” he told PennLive. “My life is at a standstill until I get justice for my baby.

” During reflections, Patterson said, “Dooda was a hard worker. I’m just going to miss her. I loved her dearly.

She had a very beautiful soul.” Miller had been working she was was 14 years old, starting with jobs at McDonal.
