A fundraiser has been launched for a young mother-of-two battling breast cancer who has been told that 'her time is limited'. Katie O’Neill Collins, 40, was diagnosed with cancer in November 2021 when she was just 37-years-old after she discovered a lump under her armpit. After undergoing medical tests, cancer was found in her breast and in the lymph nodes under her arm, with further tests revealing that the mother-of-two had stage three negative breast cancer.

Katie, who raised over €10,000 for breast cancer research and awareness in last year's VHI Mini Marathon, initially responded well to treatment, with further tests showing no evidence of cancer. However, at the end of August last year, as her son Shane was starting playschool, Katie discovered another lump, with additional testing showing that the breast cancer had returned.

The medical examination also showed that Katie's cancer was inoperable. The young mum has now been told "her time is limited," with her friend Fiona launching a GoFundMe page in a bid to raise money for Katie's husband Colm and their two young children Hannah and Shane. "Our beautiful friend Katie O’Neill Collins has been bravely battling breast cancer since October 2021," Fiona posted on the fundraising page.
