CURRIE — Join the Friends of Lake Shetek State Park from 1 to 3 p.m. July 20 at Lake Shetek’s historic stone beach house overlooking beautiful Lake Shetek for a cool treat while helping to raise funds for special projects in the state park.

One of the special projects these funds may be used for is new playground equipment in order to replace aging and out-dated equipment. The friends will be serving dishes of ice cream along with several toppings. Vehicle permits are required for entry into the state park and can be purchased at the park office.

Vehicle permits are $7 for the day or $35 for an annual. Lake Shetek State Park is located 14 miles northeast of Slayton or 13 miles south of Tracy. Access to the park is by County Road 38, north of Currie.
