Brendon Goddard’s former Brighton East home took a few extra weeks to sell after it went under the hammer, but scored an extra $200,000 after the delay. Former Essendon Football Club captain Brendon Goddard has sold his $2.2m Brighton East home two weeks after an auction stalled and it was rushed behind closed doors.

The late result has helped boost sales numbers in the lead up to Monday’s King’s Birthday public holiday, and on this week’s auction front PropTrack figures show there was a 62.7 per cent clearance rate from 332 results reported yesterday. Goddard and wife Rosie had spent two weeks trying to finalise the disposal of their Plunket St home after it passed in at $2m on May 18, with an offer made about a week ago becoming unconditional late this week.
