Lucknow: To initiate a plantation drive in Akbarnagar area, where land was recently cleared of illegal constructions, divisional commissioner Roshan Jacob along with officials of the LDA and LMC on Tuesday inspected the site as part of Kukrail river beautification and rejuvenation project. During the inspection, Jacob instructed officials to speed up debris removal using more excavators, hammer machines and dumpers. She also directed the development of pits and a nursery for saplings for the plantation drive scheduled on July 20 across 25 acres of land.
LDA vice-chairman Indramani Tripathi said a forest area named Saumitra and Shakti will be developed at a cost of about Rs 11 crore. Approximately 1.25 lakh saplings will be planted along the riverbanks.
E-tenders have been issued for horticultural, civil, and electrical works. Additionally, facilities like a kids’ zone, lawn, green areas, open gym, pathways, and high mast and facade lighting are planned to enhance the beauty of the green belt. “The forest will be developed in the Miyawaki process.
In this, 32 species of trees like sheesham, jamun, bel, Arjun, mango, tamarind, amla, jackfruit, guava will be planted in the forest area. Apart from this, several medicinal plants will also be planted,” said Inderjit Singh, LMC chief..
