FLORENCE , S.C. — FMU’s Board of Trustees discussed university growth and accommodating it with new campus infrastructure projects at Thursday’s Board of Trustees meeting.

The Board of Trustees discussed new facilities, signage and entryway changes, and renovations are underway on campus over the summer. “FMU has one of the most beautiful college campuses in South Carolina. The construction of these new buildings and the renovation of existing ones will ensure that the campus remains as instructionally functional as it is attractive,” FMU President Dr. Fred Carter said.

The new School of Business and Education building is under construction and expected to host classes in the fall. A small dump vehicle Friday is used to move concrete from the main road through Francis Marion University and two the area of sidewalks and landscaping that is being rehabilitated. The project was entirely funded by the state and is 54,000 square feet.

A smaller $1.37 million Engineering Workshop project is also under construction and is expected to be completed in July. It will provide space for equipment and design projects needed for industrial and mechanical engineering programs.
