This time of year is a wonderful time for me because I get to go outside. We have a beautiful courtyard that was dedicated a year ago. Flowers are blooming and the fountain is trickling.
The sound just makes the space so peaceful. You can bask in the sunshine (although last week was way too hot to be basking) or sit under the gazebo where the shade brings the temperature down a few degrees. But I have to admit, my very favorite place to be outside is right outside the front door.
Every year, birds build nests in every corner. The mama birds are busy bringing food for the babies and they get busier as they grow. The contact chirping for mama to come feed them only stops when she comes in for a landing with her beak full of food.
Linden Court sets fl owers outside the door, this year they are exceptionally pretty and when the breeze is just right, the fragrance is delightful. The big plus of being out front is people. I love to play "greeter" and visit with folks as they walk to the door.
I always think — they are bringing a little sunshine to someone. And bless them for that! It's amazing how we are kind of fair-weather people. After there has been rain and cloudy skies, and the sun comes shining through, people have bigger smiles and a little bounce in their step.
Their demeanor changes. Just like a fl ower that reaches toward the sky, so too, people would almost stretch upwards. The sun recharges us.
It rejuvenates us, almost gives a sense of aliveness. We are more content.
