Video above from April 30, 2024: Gov. DeSantis announces tax holiday while speaking at Tampa Bay History Center TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Florida’s Freedom Month sales tax holiday begins on Monday after the legislature passed a law exempting qualifying items from sales tax for the month of July.
“Our state is home to natural beauty from the Panhandle to the Keys, and we have an excellent array of arts, sports, and cultural events,” Jim Zingale, executive director of the Florida Department of Revenue, said in a statement. “The Freedom Month Sales Tax Holiday is a great opportunity for consumers to save money on admissions and outdoor supplies while they enjoy all Florida has to offer this summer.” Qualifying recreational items and outdoor supplies, as well as admissions to entertainment and cultural events, are exempt from sales tax the entire month of July.
The sales tax holiday does not apply to any rentals of qualifying items or any items sold within a theme park. More information can be found on the Tax Information Publication ..
