Going for a walk can be a great way to get some exercise whilst also improving your mental health and getting some fresh air. Across Nottingham and the surrounding area there are so many lovely places to go for a walk with your friends and family, and with the summer holidays fast approaching we decided to round up some of the best places. As it can be tricky keeping the kids entertained during the six-week break and so going somewhere new for a walk could be a lovely day out.

Or perhaps if you need a break from the kids, you could arrange to meet up with some friends or take your dog if you have one for a lovely walk somewhere different instead. Here are five of the peaceful walks in and around the city that you might want to try. Wollaton Hall Wollaton Hall, Gardens and Deer Park is arguably one of the best places to go for a walk in Nottingham.

The peaceful site is full of nature and deer, with the majestic 16th-century Renaissance-style building right in the centre. There are often events hosted at the site, but even when nothing is going on, there is still plenty to do. As you walk around you might see one of over 200 deer on the site, or there is also a beautiful lake to walk around.

This is great for keen birdwatchers as you will often see sparrowhawks and rin-necked parakeets. Closer to the house, you can also walk around the formal gardens. These are home to several statues as well as the Camellia House and a Doric Temple.
