FIRE crews have been scrambled as a blaze ripped through an empty primary school building. 45pm. Three pumps and an aerial appliance were rushed to Coatbridge to tackle the blaze this evening. Pictures from the incident show a huge plume of smoke billowing from the structure, which is over 100 years old.



Flames can be seen tearing through the building. Users on social media have claimed that the roof of the old primary school has since been damaged.

One wrote: "Well, After many fires since its closure I'm going to guess this one will be the end of Gartsherrie Primary. "Fires now ripped through the whole building and the roof is gone." .
