Fire crews believe a small camp fire or a disposable barbecue was used on the cliffs above the cove, which sparked the fire. Firefighters have since issued a stark warning to the public, reminding them to only light barbecues or camp fires in designated areas, to avoid causing a catastrophic fire. Luckily, it is not thought that anyone was injured in the fire, or that serious damage was caused to the grassland.

A statement from Mullion Fire Station at the time this afternoon said: "Mullion Community Fire Station & Community Fire Station are currently dealing with a small fire in the open at Kynance Cove. "It's believe that a small camp fire or BBQ was used on the cliffs above the cove, resulting in a grassland fire. Please remember to only use barbecue and camp fires in safe designated areas.
