Gathering fiddleheads in Blissfield, about 78 kilometres southwest of Miramichi. (Submitted by Susan Amos) Mélanie Allain's magnolia tree is now in full bloom at her home in Grande-Digue. The blossoms coincide with Asian Heritage Month, which her family celebrates.



'In ancient times, in China, only Emperors were allowed to own magnolia trees. Luckily now, anyone can have one! Magnolia flowers are appreciated for their beauty and have medicinal properties. They also have a decadent sweet aroma, kind of a cross between a lilac and the tropical frangipani flower,' Allain wrote in her submission to CBC New Brunswick.
