The search and rescue operation on the Greek island of Symi for TV doctor Michael Mosley is carrying on into Sunday and the hunt is becoming more dangerous. A complicated cave complex known as ‘the abyss’ is now the focus of the search, as there are fresh fears the documentary presenter, 67, could be lost in an ‘endless’ underwater tunnel system. The TV star set off for a coastal walk on Wednesday while on holiday on the tiny island but did not return, prompting several theories as to his whereabouts .
Initially, it was claimed his tracks were lost, however, stills from CCTV released on Friday appear to show him before he was declared missing having made it to the village of Pedi. Mosley’s wife Dr Clare Bailey Mosley spoke out on Saturday, saying: ‘It has been three days since Michael left the beach to go for a walk. The longest and most unbearable days for myself and my children.
‘The search is ongoing and our family are so incredibly grateful to the people of Symi, the Greek authorities and the British Consulate who are working tirelessly to help find Michael. ‘We will not lose hope.’ CCTV footage seen by the BBC and released on Saturday also appears to show Mosley walking away from Pedi, and towards the rocky hills.
