Article content The Nissan GT-R is a legend in its own right, the type of car which gearheads own if they are interested in the art of driving above all else. If you want to be flashy and show off for Instagram, get a gold-flake Lambo. If, on the other hand, you want to set lap records whilst still looking good for the camera, a GT-R is the way to go.

But, as we learned with the USS Enterprise, all good things must come to an end. After 17 years of production, the Nissan GT-R as we know it will sunset later this year. As part of the Nissan lineup since 2007, its has influenced several of the marque’s other models, including no shortage of cues on the current and past Z cars.



Production of the GT-R is scheduled to halt in October. Learn more about the cars Before that happens, the brand is having one last kick at the can with a pair of special editions for the R35, though it isn’t immediately clear if they will be offered in Canada since there is only mention of them in the American obit for the GT-R and not the note issued by Nissan on this side of the border. We think well-heeled gearheads in Canada will find a way to get one if they put their minds to it, however.

Building on the changes already announced for the 2024 GT-R, the new T-spec Takumi Edition and Skyline Edition will be limited to 200 copies. In a tremendous nod to its builders, the GT-R T-spec Takumi Edition honours the eponymous takumi master craftspeople responsible for hand-assembling each GT-R VR38DETT e.
