A GoFundMe set up for the family of a girl who was allegedly by migrants has surpassed its target in a matter of hours. As of Sunday morning, the fundraiser to help the family of Jocelyn Nungaray, 12, has raised $53,471 in donations, exceeding its target of $35,000. The 12-year-old was allegedly strangled to death by two Venezuelan migrants in Texas before her body was dumped in a creek.

Jocelyn's mother, Alexis Nungaray, received the devastating news on Monday and friends sprung into action to help the family, with "best friend" Victoria Galvan organising the fundraiser which has exceeded its goal by over $10,000. Houston Mayor John Whitmire confirmed the cost of the funeral would be covered by businessman Jim McIngvale. Alexis has since released a statement on Jocelyn's death, saying: "She was goofy, had her own personality.
