Johnny Ward has admitted he was in a very bad place four years ago, particularly during lockdown, before meeting his wife Brenda Murphy. The Fair City star never thought that he would meet anyone again, but they hit it off instantly and tied the knot in Kildare last summer. He recalled how his best man incorporated his late father into his wedding day and teased what is ahead work wise this year.

I never thought that I’d meet anyone again. "I had a couple of scripts and I started writing, but I never thought I’d meet someone as beautiful and normal as Brenda.
She appeared out of nowhere one day while I was walking in The Curragh [in Co. Kildare]. "We were walking in the same direction and I asked if we could walk together.
She straight away said, 'Are you the man off the telly?' "She started telling me about what she does and she opened up about her father. We were sharing sad stories, but we were down on the ground laughing as well. I knew straight away that I fancied her.
