Lowell’s busy senior artists are at it again with a new show entitled “It Is What It Is,” on view through July 18 in the gallery at the Lowell Senior Center at 276 Broadway. A reception is on Saturday, June 8, 1-3 p.m.

For some of the artists in the latest Senior Center exhibit, showing their work is routine, for others it is a first-time experience. For this exhibit, everyone was offered a chance to let loose and show what they have done, are doing or have experimented with. For Anna V.

Pratt the call for entries was an opportunity to hopefully get an answer to a question about a painting she did in a class here in Lowell 40 years ago. “Do You Know Me?” is a portrait of a bearded gent whose name she has forgotten. Pratt is looking for that gent, or his family, to gift the painting to him/them.

For Britt Boughner, it was an excuse to work out ideas about the exploration of identity and connectivity. For Debbie Roy, it was an opportunity to explore 19th century fashion and to document her creative process. The Lowell Senior Center exhibitions are funded by a grant from the Mass Cultural Council.

The Senior Center Art Program provides classes, materials and exhibition opportunities to individuals 60+ free of charge. Classes are supported by a grant from the Lowell Cultural Council and equipment and supplies are provided through an ARPA grant from the Lowell office Cultural Affairs and Special Events.
