A former Collingwood player, charged with dangerous driving causing the deaths of two West Australian women on June 7, has been granted bail. Thelma Clausen, 82, and Coral Seinor, 83, residents of the coastal town of Jurien Bay north of Perth, were killed when the car they were in collided with a Toyota Prado, and a road train towing two trailers, on a highway about 170 kilometres north of Perth. A 12-year-old female passenger in the Prado also received minor injuries and was treated by paramedics at the scene. On Thursday in Perth Magistrates Court, Cox appeared via video link from Hakea Prison where his lawyer Paul Holmes asked for a six-week adjournment to consider reports from the major crash unit.

Under the bail conditions Cox must report to the regional Geraldton Court three times a week, surrender his passport and remain in Western Australia. He will be released upon signing an undertaking for the amount of $20,000 and a similar surety of $20,000. The loss of Clausen and Seinor, two Country Women’s Association volunteers, hit their community hard .
