SMOOTH SHAVE Strawberry legs is a preventable yet surprisingly common reaction to home hair removal. Day revealed why the unsightly skin condition may appear. “Strawberry legs is a term used to describe the small dark spots that sometimes appear on your legs after shaving and resemble the seeds of strawberries,” she said.
“These are enlarged hair follicles which have become clogged with buildup - usually keratin, dead skin cells, oil, or bacteria - that oxidizes (turns black) when exposed to air. “Like ingrown hairs, this is best prevented by regularly exfoliating and shaving with a clean, sharp razor.” She shared product recommendations that can help to avoid skin issues when shaving.
