Orangeburg County Clerk of Court Winnifa B. Clark is running for re-election. She’s being challenged by Laeisha Bennett in the June 11 Democratic primary.

They are both from Holly Hill. Clark was first elected as clerk of court in 2008 and has won each election since then. The 56-year-old said her tenure as Orangeburg County clerk of court, “Is not just a job, but a testament to my 33 years of unwavering dedication.



” Prior to being elected as clerk of court, Clark worked as a deputy clerk for 16 years. “This extensive experience has equipped me with a deep understanding of the office’s operations and responsibilities and instilled a profound commitment to serving our community,” she said. Clark is a 1985 graduate of Holly Hill-Roberts High School and a 1989 graduate of Rutledge College, where she earned an associate degree in executive secretarial science.

“After learning the magnitude of knowledge needed for the 18 positions within the clerk’s office and a desire to become proficient in all positions, I decided to further my education by pursuing and obtaining a bachelor of science degree in organizational management from Claflin University,” she said, noting she graduated cum laude. The National Council of American Executives named Clark as a “2014 Top Ranked U.S.

Executive.” Clark is a member of the S.C.

Association of Clerks of Court & Registers of Deeds, S.C. Association of Countywide Elected Officials and the National Child Support Enforcement Agen.
