Muslims across Asia joyously celebrated Eid al-Adha, the Feast of Sacrifice, on Monday. This significant Islamic holiday commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s test of faith, where he was willing to sacrifice his son at God's command. Today, it is observed through the symbolic slaughtering of livestock, with the meat shared among family, friends, and the less fortunate.

This year, as prayers were offered for the people of Gaza amid the relentless Israeli attacks, the spirit of sacrifice and charity resonated deeply. Eid al-Adha also coincides with the final rites of the Hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia, adding to the reverence and joy of the occasion. Much of Asia, including Indonesia, Malaysia, India, and Bangladesh, observed Eid al-Adha on Monday, while Muslims in other parts of the globe, including Saudi Arabia, Libya, Egypt, and Yemen, celebrated the holiday on Sunday.



On Monday, worshippers shoulder-to-shoulder joined in communal prayers in Indonesia’s capital, Jakarta. Preachers in their sermons called on people to pray for Muslims in Gaza and Rafah.
