New Jerseyans are probably hoping they could bottle up Monday’s beautiful weather and let it play out again during the upcoming Memorial Day weekend. Forecasters, however, say Mother Nature may have other plans. Although it’s still early for meteorologists to get a good handle on the holiday weekend, they say there are signs that several storm systems could head in our direction and bring periods of rain showers and thunderstorms to New Jersey and other eastern states.

The good news: No one is predicting a total washout of a weekend — just isolated showers. And temperatures will likely be in the low to mid-70s, not steaming hot but comfortable. “By this weekend, there can be multiple weather features to watch that can bring showers and disruptive thunderstorms across the central and eastern states,” AccuWeather says in its early Memorial Day weekend outlook .



While it's still too early for forecasters to get a good handle on the Memorial Day weekend weather, they say some days could be disrupted by rain showers or thunderstorms in New Jersey and other eastern states. AccuWeather “Showers and thunderstorms will be possible from the upper Mississippi Valley throughout the weekend, even dampening locations across the Great Lakes,” the private weather company said. “However, the active pattern will gradually shift to cover the Northeast and portions of the Southeast by Monday.
