Dumfriesshire residents were among 8,000 guests who gathered at Edinburgh’s Palace of Holyroodhouse to enjoy a party with King Charles III in the grounds of his official Scottish residence. His Majesty was accompanied by Queen Camilla and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, Prince Edward and Sophie, who were there to greet people from all walks of life. Among those from the region at the celebration were the Mostly Ghostly team of Kathleen Cronie, John Hill, Mary Wood and Kenny Murray.
Kathleen said: “We feel incredibly honoured to have been nominated and invited to attend, an experience we could never have envisaged. “It was fantastic to see friends and colleagues from Dumfries and Galloway and the wider country coming together to celebrate in the midst of these glorious grounds. Another amazing adventure and one we will always remember.
” Dumfries couple Laurie and Jaclyn Irving were also among the invited guests. Laurie is part of the Nith Inshore Lifeboat team. Liam Wallace, Maurice Kennedy and Mark Harper of the Dumfries Veterans Garden were also among the guests.
Secretary, Mark, said: “We all had a great day out for the King’s garden party at The Palace of Holyroodhouse.
