[+] Adventures in Wonderland" and “Through the Looking-Glass, And What Alice Found There.” The New York Botanical Garden regularly holds exhibits relating to horticultural themes or interests. Their latest showing is taking visitors on a fairytale adventure.



Now on view through October 27, 2024, “Wonderland: Curious Nature” takes inspiration from the pages of “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” and its sequel, “Through the Looking-Glass, And What Alice Found There.” Many themes and characters from these Lewis Carroll novels are reflected throughout the 250-acre garden. “At The New York Botanical Garden, we’re plant people,” said Michael Crowley, NYBG’s Chief Marketing Officer.

“We embrace opportunities to help the public immerse themselves in beautiful experiences and explore the wonders of nature.” On NYBG’s Conservatory Lawn, visitors can walk among a display of kinetic mushrooms, designed by FoldHaus Art Collective, that lights up at night. The Haupt Conservatory is full of Victorian garden displays, reflecting what was found in Alice’s 19th-century England, while the Mertz Library holds details on the plants and fungi listed in “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.
