Former President Donald Trump called global superstar Taylor Swift ‘unusually beautiful’ – and questioned whether she is really politically liberal. Trump was careful with his words around the American singer-songwriter, who endorsed President Joe Biden in the 2020 election and has yet to endorse a 2024 candidate. Asked in winter 2023 what he thought of Swift, Trump started by saying, ‘She’s got a great star quality, she really does,’ according to Variety co-editor-in-chief Ramin Setoodeh in his forthcoming book Apprentice in Wonderland: How Donald Trump and Mark Burnett Took America Through the Looking Glass .
Trump continued by calling Swift ‘beautiful’ four times. ‘I think she’s beautiful—very beautiful! I find her very beautiful. I think she’s liberal.
She probably doesn’t like Trump,’ he said. ‘I hear she’s very talented. I think she’s very beautiful, actually—unusually beautiful!’ While Trump complimented Swift’s looks, he did take a swipe at her by casting doubt on her political affiliation.
‘But she is liberal, or is that just an act?’ he said. ‘She’s legitimately liberal? It’s not an act? It surprises me that a country star can be successful being liberal.’ Setoodeh informed the ex-president that Swift is not a country star anymore, having moved to pop more than a decade ago.
